Soundscapes, listening, sonic presence
I am developing a ambient sound artworks composed from my field recordings. Water is a recurring theme. I am making a sonic installation to give the feeling of being immersed in water, even in the absence of water.
Drawing Magnolias
I am currently working on an architectural glass public art commission for a new hospital and my magnolia drawings feature prominently in my artwork. They are endlessly fun to draw.

Among Artist-Landscape Architects
I want to place my practice in the context of other artist-designers. I use a hyphenated term, like artist-landscape architect, to show that I am operating a hybrid practice that encompasses multiple disciplines. Terms like interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary apply to my practice, but I find them obscure and too academic to describe my daily work and the parallel practices I pursue as an artist who makes paintings and sculptures AND as a licensed landscape architect who designs outdoor spaces. 
Soda firing ceramics, artist in residence
During my artist residency at Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in 2024, I experienced my first soda firing. A soda firing is a method of firing ceramic pieces that creates a glaze atmosphere (also called an atmospheric firing) by spraying soda ash or baking soda into the kiln while it is at top temperature. The soda vaporizes in the kiln and creates lovely, organic, and unpredictable glazes on the surface of the ceramic pieces.

I am reflecting on how technology has changed and how my engagement with it has changed over time. How it has changed my brain, my attention span, my creative focus, my precious creative focus that must be tended like a slow burning fire….
