Falon’s Digital Garden
Welcome to my little corner of the internet that I call my Digital Garden. It is a space for writing notes, sharing links, and the research that forms the foundation of my practice. It is an ecosystem of thought and a digital space where I can jot down some notes and have them unfinished alongside robust structured essays and projects that link ideas together and reference other peoples’ work. I am building out this space and I am thrilled to have you here. This page is structured in a blog format, so you are welcome to add it to your RSS feed and check for updates anytime as well as discover various ideas from the archive. It is meant to be a living portal about my process and thinking.
Soda firing ceramics, artist in residence
During my artist residency at Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in 2024, I experienced my first soda firing. A soda firing is a method of firing ceramic pieces that creates a glaze atmosphere (also called an atmospheric firing) by spraying soda ash or baking soda into the kiln while it is at top temperature. The soda vaporizes in the kiln and creates lovely, organic, and unpredictable glazes on the surface of the ceramic pieces.
